I went through the whole game pretty much just doing main quests, some of the yellow "!" Hours upon hours of doing side stuff trying to level up to progress the main story. Tombs also give you +1 ability points so they are worth doing even if they are a bit bland. Do I really need to these. It kills the immersion as well, I think. So you don't need to do all of them by any means, but you definitely need to do some. Even most of the "!"
