Well worth the cost over something still considered a decent whisky in the Glenlivet 12. You need to add water or it is very glue-like on the nose, but it becomes too much water for what I prefer on the palate.
This amazing 15 yr old is so affordable and absolutely unique with such a great holiday evening by the fire profile. Also sweet on the nose once aired for a moment or two.

[See more]. If you only have money for one, go with chivas 12. First time I have tried this and wasn't sure why it was turning cloudy with a ice cube but still gives a nice taste. It’s decent but that’s it, some sherry influence but not as much as most sherried drams. However I'm sure a lot of people will appreciate it's unique taste.
Picked up a bottle and couldn't be happier. 15 y/o drinks like older more expensive scotch thanks to the solera system. I love this with its focus on black pepper, with a background of cream cherry and rich fruit cake. Finish: Candied fruits, raisins, spices, Christmas pudding, oak takes over.

I found this to be very plain. Beautiful full flavour, strong but doesn't catch the back of your throat and a warm very pleasant aftertaste. Normally, that would be damning with faint praise, but it's universal appeal simply stands as a testament to how well made this is.
Got 2 in duty free.
My way to find it is to add water to the point that the smoky taste don't overwhelm the fruity sweetness. The Solera Vat is what makes this special, I have had several of these and all vary in nose and palate due to the S/V ever changing.
The ignorance of so many consumers is why lesser whiskies are chill-filtered. Order a Glenfiddich 15 and to my surprise it took and was able to sip and savor neat and fully enjoy it without the feeling of "forcing it". Sweet heather honey and vanilla fudge combined with rich dark fruits. Yes it is a 'manufactured' malt in the sense of using the Solera vatting technique. Check with the merchant for stock availability. Discover Glenfiddich 15 year old single malt whisky. This is a great staple 15 year old from the Glenfiddich distillery.

When bottled at 46% and up, whiskies do not need to be chill filtered to not become cloudy on the shelves. I don’t normally pick up oak notes on the nose but I’m adamant I can with this one. Keeps you craving. Smooth and easy to drink. Battles won were celebrate with this. Master of Malt supports responsible drinking - Sip, don't Gulp. Easy drinking scotch.
On opening the bottle found a very pleasant aroma and was indeed very soft onthe palate . Quite alright. Highly recommended.
The Glenfiddich 12 was for a long time the most accessible single malt as it was in amongst the blends and so when you know nothing, you see single malt and pick that one up. I'm with @Not very good - cloudy when you add an ice cube. My next planned purchuse is Glenlivet 18 and Bowmore 12. The whisky was then married in a Solera vat.

I have a story about Glenfiddich 15. Full-bodied and bursting with flavour. Enjoyable, but unlike a really peaty malt (eg: Laphroaig), the delicious aromas do not seem to be sustained. I have been drinking whisky since my late teens and am now 56.

The finish expands upon the figs with pleasant sweetness and a very slight sour taste which is prevalent in the 12 year old expression.
Malty, with sugar cookies, shortbread, and faint dried fruits.
Very complex, so many aromas develop.
While it was good, it was taking the palate some getting to used to and wasn't quite I'd take to whisky fully.
As you will realise, I'm a convinced islander when it comes to whisky. i agree with the tasting notes by the chaps at master malt up to the finish, which i find to be apple dominant, and oaky. This is a great staple 15 year old from the Glenfiddich distillery. A slightly thicker/ more oily texture than a lot of other single malts. There is no critics reviews yet for this vintage.

And since the whisky in their solera keeps getting older this whisky gets better every time I buy it. Which is 43% and a 1 L solild bottle:) This whisky is an incredibile combination of delicate fruityness and bourbon casks freshness. You can't go wrong with Glenfiddich, the 12 yr is solid too. Very complex from start to finish. Overall: A very pleasant albeit middle-of-the-road dram.

This one is very similar to Balvenie 16 yo, but better price and lower age. At a time when whiskies prices are going up while the quality seems to be going down, it's good to see Glenfiddich are bucking the trend.
I'm more a fan of Campbeltown for the complexity in their whiskys, but this is smooth and pleasant without that bit of harshness I've found in Springbank 10 and 15. The nose is intoxicating with it's rich fruit and strength promising a full bodied powerful taste; the high strength is perfect, what could be overwhelming with so many notes and hints is grounded in rich christmas cake and dark baked figs, to which pepper, slight vanilla and creamy toffee underlie.
Must admit as an Ulsterman my favourite regular tipple is Jameson and I could never understand what all the fuss was about Scottish Highland whiskies.
And have to say that if I compare all 6 of them (which is interesting), Glenfiddich 15 wins (at least for me).
