it makes me wonder if a large payroll like the met police can’t get it right what hope do any other parents in my situation have with smaller companies! Your family structure isn’t the only family structure out there. Your maintenance is your contribution towards to Cost of raising your children.

They agreed when he paid it that any child maintenance he was due to pay once he started a job again was to be taken out of this huge lump sum- this should have lasted well over 3 years based on CMS calculations. I couldn’t be more horrified or disgusted with UK justice! Which is fine as long as the reason for the split isn’t down to abuse. If the philosophy of child maintenance did not make it financially beneficial for resident parents (usually mothers) to restrict access to non resident parents (usually fathers), then perhaps this loophole would not be taken advantage of?

My ex has his own income, his wife’s (moonlight flit marriage and now she’s died) and that of her ex’s as the ex and the wife had 2 children. My Partner split with his ex just over a year ago and paid her over £2000 up front for child maintenance (from a loan he had to take just to provide for his child as he lost his job following the split). My ex is a police officer & the issue I am facing after the years of him refusing to pay & racking up a hefty amount of arrears is his payroll are so slack & can’t seem to send the correct information or can’t get the payment in on time or just don’t bother!
