It is in their nature to warp and change the rules of what can and can’t happen.
So they will. They could end up setting up everyone’s downfall, or they could save everyone by passively destroying doom.
I’mma do this in two posts for better organisation so lets start with the Bard Of Doom. Bard of Doom: One who Invites Destruction of Doom or one who Invites Destruction through Doom. Both great killers, but the Bard isn’t going to be gaining anything but a damage bonus. probably come when all the rules they’ve broken finally catches up with them. smoke.
One who passively destroys and destroys with rules, fate, and doom. won’t fix you; they aren’t healers.
I’d say their powers are more along the lines of influencing Doom to unleash its wrath upon the Bard’s enemies. This may seem redundant, but, in reality, it’s not. You can be a little reckless and active, you can enjoy your temptations and go after the things you want in Life, but you need self-imposed limits and some self-control. They think they can’t actually handle it, causing them to give it up too easily. They would also be used by their peers in their attempts to be accepted by others, who would merely use and abuse how submissive they were. I can think of two examples of a Sylph of Doom that contrast each other very nicely. and some things cannot be changed or avoided and sooner or later, fate will run its course.
They’re kind of like snot nosed, teenage, spoiled brats. Maids start out relying on others for their Aspect. This makes them have full understanding of those rules and limits and what they mean. It’s all very extreme really. The bard of doom can either fuck up your entire session or help it along greatly, but being the wild card he’s likely to both.
The Bard will be able to cause destruction through death and destruction, which may seem like a strange power to have; however its strangeness is exceeded by its implications.
It is impossible to know what the Bard feels and how he will react to things, and while players should not submit completely to the Bard’s whims to make him happy (it will inevitably backfire) they should be somewhat wary about how their actions and decisions influence the Bard’s motives and his relationship to the group.
Seers of Doom might also have the innate ability to see where bombs and mines were located. more they kill (or the higher their “kill count”) and their attacks Doom- major themes of systems, certainty, rules, fate, and sacrifice.Minor themes of limits, order, and decay. Their laid back avoidance of responsibilities isn’t going to be good enough to get them out of it anymore. Toxic- you are near immune to poison and necrotic damage, Rejuvenate- your blood cures all poisons and stabilizes any condition, Disaster- you deal 3xs damage to anything below 20% health or has a poison effect, as a bard of doom this completely changed my outlook on my classpect! They don’t fully understand limits and rules and consequences, either thinking they are not all that bad or horrifyingly awful and thus they become too pessimistic to do anything. actions. not a very happy aspect I would say but eh. rather literally, mean “destroying death”, a.k.a. They might be naturally cautious or repulsed by things, or even just naturally repulsive in personality.
They may very well struggle with choices that affect whether or not someone will die. They would accept the responsibilities and and obligations put upon them with grace. They will be lazy/unproductive, pessimistic, and accepting of the world and society around them. A Mage of Doom would suffer from the limits, responsibilities, restrictions and obligations placed on them. I used to think i was just a session breaker but this is way better. For a Bard of Doom, it could possibly be something like the death of a relative or close friend, or maybe they face serious and extravagant consequences for trying to be rebellious. They would be able to see the entropy and decay of their party or session if certain things weren’t done or certain rules weren’t followed. never have ended up normally and getting items wayyy too powerful for their level/point in the game (basically think video They are commiserators, aware They know where rules and boundaries go, so they also know where they don’t go. The Bard of Doom will likely have a blast in their land pre-crisis, and then dislike it during their crisis. They have trouble coping with a lack of acceptance from others.
Bard- passively destroy their aspect and passively destroy with it. Maybe someone or their pet or animal dies.
They might live in or around decaying, old, decrepit places.
Any inner insecurities they have about Doom would stem from the worry that they might not actually be able to fulfill every burden, responsibility and obligation that they take for themselves or put themselves through. They might even have to choose between saving one person over another. They might become overly cautious of mundane things and expect others to accept and understand their awful plight. A Witch of Doom would rebel against the concept of limits or rules in general.
Minor themes of limits, order, and decay.
The Bard of Doom is a very powerful and very dangerous player.
They might even be rebellious little rule breakers at times.
One more Homestuck Mythological Role analysis blog. They would also see the most necessary courses of action, things that had to happen, even if they seemed futile. They may feel they are under a lot of pressure because of the obligations and responsibilities that get piled up on them. Pissed enough to kill the rule-breaker?
Everything seems futile to them, and they might even think they need to sacrifice themselves to make it better. They have natural confidence with their Aspect, but hide insecurities and hate being seen as weak. In reality though they are just most likely going to be used and taken advantage of by other people. I am Dahni, an INTP, Witch of Light and Derse Dreamer In The Land of Fog and Reflection. Wow look who royally effed up while setting up the blog. Systems and order break down.
They might sacrifice anything they consider unnecessary about themselves or the way they live, sometimes even going too far with it, in order to be considered or thought of as less useless. They would respect the rules and limits that surround them. They would likely wait for the opportune moment to strike, though they are slow to move or act, they always will when something necessary needs to happen. It’s inevitable so what’s the point? Their challenge might also include the decision to sacrifice something or stop something from happening. They might be literal ticking bombs counting down until their all powerful explosion. Bard of Doom The Bard class is a passive destructive class, which means that a Bard of Doom invites destruction through Doom. A Rogue of Doom has trouble coping with obligations, responsibilities, rules and limits, either thinking they don’t have enough structure in their lives or they have too much and can’t handle it/don’t deserve it. This gives them a deeply intuitive and personal understanding of their Aspect. The bard of doom can either fuck up your entire session or help it along greatly, but being the wild card he’s likely to both.
So the issue here is that your Bard will have this weird connection with demise or things that WILL happen no matter what. As they progress further their very presence would cause fate to become locked.
They just have to look around and remember how cool they thought their land was before, in hopes that maybe this will pull them out of their crisis. They could also destroy rules so they They’re easily swayed by any kind of temptation and lack self control or self imposed limits. They might know intimately the inner workings of machines or bombs through a lot of trial and error. The Bard of Doom is described as one who “invites the destruction of Doom/invites destruction with Doom”. Doom then is an ultimate gentle Equalizer, instilling its players with an internal sense of Acceptance and eventually true Wisdom.”, Witch of Doom: One who Manipulates with Doom or Manipulates Doom, Witches are enthusiastic, confident and optimistic rebels.
