First off, for people that have never played this game before: Reviewed in the United States on December 5, 2018. Set in a Utopian island inhabited by dinosaurs, ARK: Survival Evolved engages the player on a survival gameplay loop that could have been as engaging as it is punitive – if it wasn’t plagued by so many technical issues. I enjoy this game very much. Like harvesting resources and levelling up it’s just another grind, and like everything else in ARK there’s no guidance to how to do it so be prepared to keep a wiki on hand. Ark: Survival Evolved is a survival PvPvE game that draws inspiration from games such as Rust whilst giving it’s own unique spin on the genre. You can still see all customer reviews for the product. True it would be awesome to ride Dinosaurs around and taming them, but not on this console. It looks like garbage and it plays even worse, and no matter how great the intentions behind it or what crazy ambition it shows, there’s no reason why anyone should willingly seek it out and play it. The Switch seemingly gets two dozen new releases every week, and even without playing most, I’m confident in saying that more than a few are pretty weak. Coupled with both online and offline crashes it just didn’t feel like a finished game.

Then you’ll notice you can quickly starve without food to eat. The progression is surprisingly solid. ARK: Survival Evolved is available on PC, Xbox One, ... Shantae: Risky’s Revenge – Director’s Cut Switch Review. I love the game on PC and PS4 but the switch version is severely lacking optimization. While survival games do involve lots of working things out for yourself, using trial and error as you explore, there still is a point where too much is left unspoken. It reminded me of playing Minecraft years before it officially released when your best bet for learning how to play was consulting a wiki.

Unless you plan on spending a lot of time with the game, starting your own save is preferable because when you leave a server your character, items, and structures will stay behind in that server at the mercy of other players. The touch screen may allow for better control functionality as far as the other consoles go, but it doesn’t make up for the ugly visuals and general instability. Unless this game gets patched to fix the many many glitches in it it’s really not worth the price. The controls are also pretty frustrating and there’s no clear manual on how to use a lot of them. I was thinking of getting this game because well... dinosaurs, (need I say more there?).

I will admit I wasn’t even aware that ARK had a single player mode initially.
