This is where I believe the problems of the Mi 4i lie. Bottom line, the Mi 4i is built to be cheaper but doesn't look it.
It'll try and convince users it's a needed addition to the Mi lineup - with a more sensible styling but not entirely lacking appeal, and a level of equipment that's well above average in its price range. Xiaomi says the Mi 4i was designed as a flagship phone for "emerging markets." Let's round up some of its best gems.
The Xiaomi Mi 4i comes with a 13 MP rear camera with a dual LED flash, and 5 MP front-facing unit, and the device takes some great photos, especially when considering its price point. Against the $180 Samsung Galaxy Prime, well, the Mi 4i handily beats it, with better all-around specifications, camera and a higher-resolution display for only $25 more. Still, 50Mbps is pretty good for watching YouTube videos. Features like lockscreen notifications, heads up notifications, Do Not Disturb, and card style multi-tasking were all a part of MIUI before the release of Lollipop. Xiaomi says it has plans to bring this to other markets as well.

I also had no issues connecting to 4G. The 4i is also better designed -- both phones have a 5-inch display, but the Mi 4i is thinner and lighter with a bigger (though nonremovable) battery. Outdoor visibility in bright sunlight is also very good, courtesy of Xiaomi’s technology that makes hardware level adjustments to improve visibility while in bright environments. The Xiaomi Mi 4i boasts a premium 5" IPS 1080p display and a very capable 13MP camera, both shared with the flagship.
