Essentially, the Mi 10 Pro matches much of the competition when it comes to screen tech and performance.

If you’re in the US, there are good alternatives. All this translates to a fine display. White balance and color accuracy were spot-on as well. With a Video score of 104, the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro is our new top-ranked device for moving image capture. The Mi 10 Pro is about the same size as a Google Pixel 4 XL, and noticeably shorter and narrower than the LG V60. All that said, the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro is a wonderful phone that covers all the bases and then some. The Oppo Find X2 and OnePlus 8 Pro are incredibly similar, and are perhaps the best devices to put head-to-head against the Xiaomi.

There are also models with 12GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB of storage. I was not entirely pleased with the ultra-wide/macro camera. The new device’s camera delivers excellent (and sometimes class-leading) results in virtually all test categories, making it a top choice for any mobile photography or videography enthusiast, as well as a very deserving new leader in our DXOMARK Camera ranking.

One niggle might be the software, and particularly the lack of an app drawer. The camera is also capable of rendering excellent detail in its video footage.

This is a story about two sensors and the software that supports them. In other words, it is easier to hold and use than some flagships. Working together, the lenses on the Mi 10 Pro 5G can zoom up to 50x. While it didn’t work on our review unit (due to unlocked bootloader), it should worm on retail units just fine. At 50x you can still read fine print, but details generally look flat and soft. Unlike Huawei’s P40 Pro, the Mi 10 Pro has a full slate of Google apps, including the Google Play Store. Xiaomi’s power-consumption tuning is quite good. The all-glass phone comes in blue or white with a metallic matte finish. As a package, the phone’s camera is a little confusing. The module, offset to the left, means the phone will wobble as you tap the screen while it sits on a hard surface.

Most seasoned photographers will tell you megapixels aren't everything — and they'd be right — but megapixels are exactly what matter here. The new model’s Night performance again shows improvement over the CC9 Pro Premium Edition, with better dynamic range and detail.

That goes for battery life, too. In all, the Mi 10 Pro may be simple, may be safe, but it’s polished in just the right ways. On the downside, some zoom shots can show highlight clipping and ringing. Last, the fourth lens that’s set off by itself does double duty as the 20MP ultra wide-angle and macro shooter.

The phone is powered by a 4,500mAh battery. The only real unknown here is how swiftly and consistently Xiaomi will update the security patches for the phone. At 20x zoom, photos still look good, but you start to notice a loss of detail.

Maximum earpiece volume comes in at 78dB, which should be loud enough to hear in most situations. It delivers optical zoom up to 2x, and the clarity is simply excellent.

A remote app lets you use the phone's built-in IR blaster to control televisions, cable boxes, and other home appliances, which is helpful. While there’s no video stabilization, our test videos don’t look overly jumpy. It measures 6.40 by 2.94 by 0.35 inches (HWD) and weighs 7.34 ounces. Xiaomi’s Mi 9T Pro was awesome.
