There had to be a better and easier way, so I came across a video where this products was used for storage and decided to buy it. About 3 months into enjoying my device and having everything sorted and what I thought was safe, the hard drive just stopped working completely all of a sudden. From day one, it started disconnecting randomly, and the computer would say, could not identify USB device. It runs quietly, and files copy to it quickly; a little faster than the other external USB 3.0 drives I own. I needed more storage for my daughters PlayStation4 since she only has the 500gb she would constantly miss out on updates and would have to compromise on deleting data she really wanted to keep. One week past the Amazon return deadline, the drive stopped working -- not recognized by a drive by any computer I attached it to. TL;DR: Don't buy Seagate if your data is important! I bought this H/D in July of 2014; I've never even exceeded half its capacity in data storage. Was able to clear up space on my computer. Great rod it no recommend it. Read honest and unbiased product reviews from our users. I have bought two of these external drives. Very good price. I just wish I could turn that light off, it gets really bright at night. I bought this to expand the memory capacity of my firetv recast from one half terrabyte to two and a half terrabytes. I always like to have a backup for the backup in my life. Still....Lots of space left; more than 1TB. I will likely order a second drive in the near future. If you only need it for 6 months, go ahead and buy it!!
I would highly recommend not purchasing a Seagate, this is the third one this year that I've had fail within the 6 month period. I expect at least a minimum of 7 years of error-free, top-efficiency use out of any computer or peripheral device.
